Meditate to train your mind.
|
Hey friend, Did you enjoy your Pi day? Did you remember to spring forward that oven clock in your kitchen no one uses? I'm getting some invites to weddings and feeling optimistic about this season of love!
🔥 Highlights
- I finished creating a font of my own handwriting finally!
- I've got the auto-posting on Instagram via Plannthat down. It allows me to focus on batching drawings in one focused session, and automates the Instagram app part.
- I've been on a 10 day meditation streak! There are moments when I can string together some unforced breaths where I empty my mind of all thoughts. There is definitely an after glow effect on any situation that's thrown at me. If you've never tried it, I highly suggest the Waking Up app.
💔 Lowlights- Having shared my popplock.xyz game with people on slack/discord/HackerNews, I'm sort of at a loss on what to work on next.
🎯 Goals
- Decide on what I want to build next.
- Edit together a video of landing page feedback I've recorded on YC startupschool.org companies. Upload to youtube!
- Maintain a 1500 chess elo rating on chess.com for 3 min blitz time control.
🔗 Link Noahpinion (substacker) interviews Patrick Collison (co-founder of Stripe) 🎵 SongSuperhero by Kiefer. I believe the song title is in reference to the recently deceased MF Doom. Piano instrumental beats. 🎙️ PodcastNaval took over the Tim Ferris podcast and interviewed Vitalik Buterin 📖 Book One Minute Wisdom by Anthony de Mello. It's laid out like a book of poetry in that each page contains a single word like "Enlightenment" or "Imitation" and dialogue between a disciple and Master. It's almost like a joke except the punch lines are deeply spiritual and make you think instead of laugh.
I've been hearing about meditation from tons of podcast guests in the past 4 years. I gave it a cursory effort but this time around I'm sticking with it. Sam Harris's voice has been echoing in my mind daily, and what he says about meditation is so compelling. We think to ourselves, and converse with our conscience every waking moment. We exercise our bodies, but hardly ever our minds. What is preventing you from starting to meditate daily even if it's just for 10 minutes a day? If you are already, what part of your meditation practice works especially for you?
