Dear Readers,
I am SO sorry! I sent out this newsletter on Friday, but I am just now realizing some of my links were incorrect. I am therefore sending this again with a huge apology!
~~Ashleigh~~
As the first day of spring approaches, I have decided to do some spring cleaning. Well, restructuring is probably a better term. As you may know, I write across several audiences and genre. As my audience has grown, I have decided to create three distinct newsletters, with content oriented more towards each genre.
|
|
Ashleigh's Young Adult Newsletter will feature recommendations, reviews, and giveaways of books written for a young adult audience. You will also receive updates for Hartfield Chronicles, such as the one below. Additionally, we will be having a contest to name the newsletter.

|
|
Ashleigh's Romance Newsletter will feature recommendations, reviews, and giveaways of books written for a more adult audience. While I will try not to feature erotica, there will definitely be a range of steaminess.

|
|
|
Ashleigh's Whodunit Newsletter will feature recommendations, reviews, and giveaways of mysteries and cozies.

In some other exciting news, Hartfield Chronicles is moving! Instead of being posted on multiple sites each week, it will have one home: it's very own website. The 24 chapters that have already been published this year are still available for free and new chapters will continue to be released every Tuesday and Friday. However, at the end of the season (approximately mid-April), I will stop publishing everywhere except the website. |

Melinda knew her new boarding school would be difficult. She has to make new friends. The workload is way more than she ever expected. And, for the first time in her life, boys are interested in her as more than a friend. But, will she even have a chance to have a relationship? Or will the coursework become so overwhelming that she will fail out before she has the chance?
Patrick McGregor is one of the most recognized faces in Hollywood. But sometimes, he just wants to be a normal 16-year-old. Missing the beginning of the school year to film a new movie on location in Hawaii sounded ideal. He never expected to be so homesick.

Hartfield Chronicles follows the lives of Melinda, Pat, and their friends as they navigate their way through boarding school life. Each episode features two stories, one from Melinda's point of view and one from Pat's, along with an excerpt from Melinda's writing journal. New episodes are published every Tuesday and Friday.
Here's a quick recap of what you missed. - Episode 21: Melinda tries to forget about Mike while Bella start making Melinda uncomfortable.
- Episode 22: An emergency has Walter and Pat rushing home.
- Episode 23: A long weekend at home isn't what Melinda or Pat expected.
- Episode 24: Melinda and Pat both return to Hartfield.

A Glimpse at Ashleigh's Bookshelf |
Every Wednesday, I review a new book on my blog. Last week, I reviewed a romance entitled Pursuing Liam by Lisa Lanay and this week I discussed a new adult slice of life entitle The Tribulations of August Barton by Jennifer LeBlanc.

Liam lives his life by a simple code: invincible freedom. Freedom to spend time with women, friends, and his art. Taryn cannot wait to become a mother. When her adoption falls through, Liam offers her the perfect solution. But, can their friendship endure? This is one of the first books in a while that I have read where the author has done a great job with the internals. Despite being a third-person narrative, I really felt like I knew what the characters were thinking and feeling. Unfortunately, however, we spend so much time in the characters heads, the dialogue and action can be a little jarring. By the time a character responds to a question, I have already forgotten what the other person was asking. It took me a little while to get into the story, but eventually I reached that point where I was invested and wanted to know more about the characters. Overall, I liked the story and found it an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading more in the Almost Perfect series.

Augie Barton's first day of college isn't going so great. His step-father is divorcing his mother, his roommate thinks he's a nerd, and he inadvertently ends up showing up at a dorm party with his grandmother, a former prostitute who has run away from her nursing home. As he navigates his first semester at college, Augie must learn how to cope with his ever-mounting anxiety in order to have a shot at his dream girl. The fact that this book was divided into parts instead of chapters was a little off-putting and it took me a while to really get into the story. However, by the end of September, I was intrigued by Augie and wanted to know what happened to him. And I absolutely loved Grandma Gertie. By the end of the book, I felt there were a few stories I wanted to know more about. Without giving too much away, it felt like Grandma Gertie and Mom had a secret they were keeping from Augie that is never addressed. I also felt that I didn't really get to know Isaac. He had some major growth to his character, but we missed the transformation. I hope to find the answer to these questions when I read the next book in the series.
