Hey friend, I just got back from a 4 day vacation that included a golf outing to Rock Harbor and a wedding in Winchester. I ate shrimp & grits, pho, greek, Golden Corral, and Waffle House of all places.
🔥 Highlights💔 Lowlights- The counteroffer from my teammate org DARs was a lot lower than I desired, but at least increased their initial suggested percentage. They took so long to respond to my first counter that I'm wondering how many more times we can manage to go back and forth before I just throw my hands up...
- I didn't bring a computer with me for the trip which was deliberate but also meant I wasn't pushing code.
- It's very hard to get good sleep at a hotel, especially when sleeping with friends who snore 😂.
🎯 Goals- Get back to the grind and write some code for my 3D game.
- Send out a well crafted email and counter with DARs about my prize pay out. I may share exact figures and lessons in a later post because I think it would be interesting for others to know. But suffice it to say we are talking in the six figures. I have to remind myself that although I hate the uncertainy and anxiety this brings, it's a heck of a lot easier than trying to make this amount of money with a day job or typical means (you don't hit the jackpot often in your life, so capitalize on it).
🔗 Link Design Fails (funny) 🎵 SongRelax by Rejje Snow, Cam O'bi, grouptherapy 🎙️ PodcastAn absolute banger of a podcast episode. Balajis on Tim Ferris Show 📖 Book Happy Sexy Millionaire by Steven BartlettA hard hitting book of wisdom from a relatively young CEO about how you can actually achieve happiness in your life. Illustrated beautifully by Jack Butcher of Visualize Value.
As I tried to maintain my daily habits in the presence of friends and while staying away from home at an Inn, I experienced the habitual pillar behaviors I've worked hard to create during the pandemic in a new light. I'm reminded that the small things I do now won't change anything tomorrow or next week, but will certainly change the course of events years from what I do consistently. Meditation. Reading. Exercising. Even if I'm in a totally different environment and with new people surrounding me, I will never fail to include those things in my day. What are the things you are consistently doing today that are going to payoff in a year or decade? I'd love to hear from you, hit reply!
