We are delighted to inform you that Lancashire & South Cumbria Primary Care has been shortlisted twice in the Nursing Times Awards 2024 under the category of Nursing in Primary Care.   We will be presenting to the judges in London on 16th August 2024. All winners will be announced at the Nursing Times Awards on 23rd October 2024 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.

TRAINING

North West Wider Workforce Clinical Supervision Course 
Additional dates have been added to run another, slightly smaller than normal cohort of the Wider Workforce & Foundations Supervisor Course on the below dates: 
  • Day 1 – Wednesday 11th September (9am to 5pm)
  • Day 2 – Wednesday 9th October (9am to 5pm)
This is a 2-day course via Zoom, you must be available to attend both days.

Community pharmacy technician advancing your role information webinar.
 
The CPPE Community pharmacy technician: advancing your role is a fully funded learning programme designed to help community pharmacy technicians develop the skills and confidence to support the delivery of effective clinical services in community pharmacy.  It guides pharmacy technicians to reflect upon their existing transferable skills and identify development needs to support the readiness for advancing their role in practice to support service delivery.
(clients/patients/family or friends) to engage in conversations about their health.

Immunisations and Vaccinations – Increasing Uptake 2024 7th August & 17th September 13:00-14:00
 
This 1 hour virtual training session is for all Healthcare Practitioners registered and non-registered involved in the delivery of the national routine immunisation programme to support practice and help promote vaccine uptake amongst eligible individuals. This is non -mandatory and is additional to the mandatory annual update.

Phlebotomy/Venepuncture Training - Preston 16th October 
 
This phlebotomy venepuncture training course is aimed at all healthcare staff, specifically registered nurses, carers and support workers who’s role include taking bloods.
This is ideal for staff who are looking to improve their skills in venepuncture.

Care Navigation Training
 
As part of the Delivery plan for recovering access to primary care, care navigation training is available for practice staff to support patients get the help they need from primary care.  
Two levels of e-learning training are available: foundation and advanced. Both are free of charge. To complete the learning, please register via the Care Navigation portal. The benefits to practice staff completing this training include better skills retention and knowledge transfer within practices and to offer greater standardisation of approaches across networks.

Reminder: Reasonable Adjustments Digital Flag roll out and training
 
The NHS is rolling out the Reasonable Adjustments Digital flag across the NHS and publicly funded care. Please access free staff training to implement the Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag, helping it to become part of a standard approach to care and treatment for all disabled people. Watch this film about what reasonable adjustments are and the type of reasonable adjustments people with a learning disability and people on the autism spectrum might need.

Unpaid Carers Support Group
 
Following on from the success of the Carers Week Listening Room that was held in June, the LSC ICB Culture and Inclusion Team have established an Unpaid Carers Support Group that will run on a bi-monthly basis, with the first meeting taking place on Thursday 18th July from 12:30-13:15
The group will be an informal, safe space for staff to talk about and highlight any challenges they may be facing as unpaid carers, whether that be inside or outside of the working environment. The group aims to support individuals across the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS workforce, by providing a space to share lived experiences, ask questions, and share knowledge and links to access further support and resources
