DENVER–Following a
six-figure ad campaign from Advance Colorado Action raising awareness against
House Bill 23-1202, which would have legalized “safe injection sites” in Colorado, the Senate Health & Human Services Committee today sided with Advance Colorado Action and killed the bill with a 6 to 3 vote.
"Advance Colorado Action launched a six-figure ad campaign against this pro-drug policy to ensure that the politicians at the Capitol followed the will of the people of Colorado and those efforts paid off today when this dangerous policy was killed in committee. State-sanctioned facilities for use of the most addictive and dangerous drugs on the planet is admitting defeat in the face of our substance abuse crisis. Colorado isn’t ready to admit defeat,” said Michael Fields, President of Advance Colorado Action.
“While we absolutely support restorative and rehabilitative solutions in the fight against addiction, HB23-1202 was not the answer, and we applaud those on both sides of the aisle who voted to reject this reckless piece of legislation.”
