THERE'S A NEW AND FRESH SURGE OF HOPE IN THE AIR
If you've been following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this past week, you've felt the surge of positive energy fueling this election season.
But don’t think for a moment that the excitement is limited to the national stage—there’s plenty of momentum right here in Indiana too. Democrats have several outstanding candidates running in the upcoming election, depending on where you live.
Mark your calendar for a special opportunity to meet three of these Democratic House candidates!
This event, hosted by Better Indiana PAC, is a unique chance for Hendricks County residents to engage with a powerhouse group of candidates.
Make it a fun night—invite your neighbors to join you for dinner and meaningful conversations with these future representatives.

Indiana currently has a GOP supermajority with 70 members in the House (representing 70% of the vote), which allows them to make changes to the state's constitution without input from all voices. We only need to flip FOUR seats in the Indiana House to break this supermajority and bring everyone back to the table for meaningful discussions that include diverse opinions and solutions. ALL 100 seats in the IN House are up for election in 2024.
That’s why the upcoming candidate meeting in Brownsburg is so crucial. Get to know them and see why they deserve your vote on November 5th. • Karen Whitney • Tiffany Stoner • Robert Pope

This single-party dominance has led to decisions that many feel lack common sense. Democrats would need to gain just 4 additional seats to reduce the Republican count to 66, which would break the GOP's supermajority.
This would prevent them from having the two-thirds majority (67 seats) required to maintain it, ensuring that all voices are included in important decisions.

Mesa GOP mayor cites John McCain's motto as he urges Republicans to vote for Harris
Reflecting on some of the powerful messages from this past week’s convention: “I have an urgent message for the majority of Americans who, like me, are in the political middle. John McCain’s Republican Party is gone, and we don’t owe a damn thing to what’s been left behind. So, let’s turn the page, let’s put the country first, let’s put adults in the room your country deserves,” said Mesa GOP Mayor and Republican John Giles.
There’s so much at stake in this election, and it’s up to us to ensure the survival of our democracy and our country.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CANDIDATE
August 18th marked Senior Citizen Day, and it got me reflecting as I approach my 65th birthday. I often introduce myself as a “badly retired college president,” a phrase that captures a lot about me. It highlights my dedication to service, particularly to students, families, and commun-ities, but it also speaks of my age, retirement, and fixed income.
As your future State Representative, I am committed to improving the quality of life for everyone, especially seniors. I recently visited the Hendricks County Senior Services Center, and I was genuinely impressed.
The center offers a variety of ser-vices, activities, and programs that help seniors live full and engaging lives. It was heart warming to see folks playing cards and creating a sense of community.
This center thrives thanks to the collaboration of governmental, public, and private organizations. As your State Rep, I’ll continue supporting such initiatives and explore ways to enhance our support for seniors.
With just 74 days until the November 5th election, I’m busy meeting voters, knocking on doors, and listening to the concerns of senior citizens.
The message is clear: property taxes are becoming unbearable, and many are worried about losing their homes.
For those on fixed incomes, we need a tax system that reflects their reality—taxes should be fixed too.
Seniors are also deeply concerned about healthcare and the affordability of life-saving medications. It’s essen- tial that every senior has access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.
As your State Rep, I will work to ensure our state government collaborates effectively with federal agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to meet the needs of our seniors. For seniors, healthcare is life.
