January 11th Monthly Meeting

Happy New Year to all! Congrats to our new Chair Wendy Brooks and gratitude to our departing Chair Rachel Levy. Be sure to come to our next meeting on January 11th to see Wendy at the helm and to hear from Matt Butler and Chris Pearson from New Virginia Majority about the National Popular Vote. As usual, our monthly general meeting is at 4pm at The Gathering Place at RVA Around the Table at 155 Junction Drive in Ashland.

Happy New Year!

It is my honor to serve as Chair of the Hanover Democratic Committee. With every election, the Democrats gain ground in Hanover. I am looking forward to building on that success by continuing our get out the vote efforts and trying new ways to expand our membership. This is going to be a very busy election year, so we need all of you working to make sure our Democratic Candidates win in November.

One way you can help is to join the Hanover Democratic Committee. Every two years everyone is required by the Democratic Party of Virginia to renew their membership (even if you just joined 6 months ago). If you have not filled out a new membership form and paid dues and were not voted in at the reorganization meeting in December, then you are not currently a HDC member in the 2026/2027 term. Please remember you do not have to be a member to volunteer for the committee or attend our meetings–we appreciate all volunteers–but only members have voting privileges and can serve on our Executive Committee. Also, the dues go toward supporting our Democratic candidates.

You can join by going to our web site, hvadems.com and clicking on the join button then the donate button, or come to one of our meetings and fill out a paper membership form and pay your dues then. To request a waiver, please contact the Chair at hvademocrats@gmail.com

At our January 11th general meeting we will be voting to approve our HDC Bylaws. Only current members are qualified to vote. Here is the link: HDC Bylaws for 2026-2027.

I am excited to meet and work with all of you to accomplish our common goal of electing Democrats and saving our Democracy!

Drinking Liberally

Drinking Liberally will meet on Thursday, January 29th, 6:30 at Mexico Restaurant.

Community Inaugural Celebration Honoring Lieutenant Governor-Elect Ghazala Hashmi

We warmly invite you to join us for a special community celebration marking a historic moment for the Commonwealth.

Please join friends, neighbors and supporters from across Virginia as we honor Lieutenant Governor-Elect Ghazala Hashmi and celebrate the shared values, collective effort, and hopeful future that brought us to this moment.

This afternoon gathering is free and open to all and will be a chance to connect, reflect, and celebrate together. Live music, along with food and drinks, will be provided.

Parking is available via the skybridge from the 5th and Marshall Garage, 500 E. Marshall Street.

All Democratic and like-minded women are invited to our Hanover Democratic Women's Coffees which are for bringing together Democratic women from all parts of Hanover (and sometimes beyond) for energizing fellowship and for forming strong relationships to help elect Democratic candidates and promote our Democratic ideals locally and nationally. We meet monthly at the homes of different volunteering hostesses and in different parts of the county. We have no formal memberships or dues. Come for great fellowship.
