TRAINING

90 Minute on-line MECC familiarisation session (via teams) - Thursday 25th July 2024 - Various timings

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is the opportunistic delivery of consistent and concise healthy lifestyle information via brief or very brief behaviour change interventions, enabling individuals
(clients/patients/family or friends) to engage in conversations about their health.
This can then encourage the person to take action to improve their own lifestyle by: eating well, maintaining a healthy weight, drinking alcohol sensibly, exercising regularly, reducing/not smoking, prioritising self-care and looking after their wellbeing and mental health.
Thousands of conversations happen every day. MECC is about harnessing the power of short conversations to help people to stay well, access the support they need and cope better in these challenging times.

The 90 minute free on-line MECC familiarisation sessions provide an understanding of what MECC is for those colleagues who may not have the capacity to attend our current 1-Day face to face MECC train the Trainer Chat to Change course.
It is suitable for anyone that talks to people about their issues. They could be frontline workers, volunteers or simply people that are happy to help. Please note that this 90-minute on-line familiarisation session is in addition to the current 1-day free face to face MECC Train the Trainer Chat to Change course offer that is available. (Remaining MECC TTT course dates will be re-advertised soon).

If you wish to attend one of the 90 min familiarisation sessions, Download and please fill out the attached application form, highlighting your preferred time and send it to: workforcetraining@activelancashire.org.uk.
Chaperoning Training (non-clinical staff)  – New Date Added 15th August 09:30-12:30
The course aims to really expand the understanding and knowledge of chaperoning in primary care. The course examines the problematic stereotypes of which patients will be offered a chaperone and in which circumstances.

FURTHER UPDATES

South Asian Heritage Month – Wednesday 17th July 11:00-11:45 Join the meeting now.
A special listening room has been arranged to mark South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) which is taking place between 18 July – 17 August 2024. What is South Asian Heritage Month? SAHM celebrated from July 18th to August 17th each year, is a celebration of the rich history and culture of South Asia. It marks milestones like the enactment of the Indian Independence Act on July 18, 1947, and the establishment of the Radcliffe Line on August 17. SAHM seeks to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories, and communities. The month seeks to understand the diverse heritage and cultures that continue to link the UK with South Asia. South Asian culture has made a significant impact on Britain in various aspects, such as food, clothing, music, words, and the overall ambiance of our towns and cities.
