Action Team Updates

Prescription Drug Take Back Day is coming up on Saturday, April 25.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. Drug Take Back Day events encourage the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

You can bring your unneeded medications to any of four locations in Sheboygan County from 10:00am to 1:00pm on April 25 to get them safely disposed of:

HSHS St Nicholas Hospital - 3100 Superior Ave, Sheboygan
Generations, an Intergenerational Center - 1500 Douglas Dr, Plymouth
Random Lake Fire Department - 718 Spring St, Random Lake
Sheboygan Falls Police Department - 375 Buffalo St, Sheboygan Falls

Current Grant Funding Opportunities

Reentry Navigator Funding Opportunity

Due March 31, 2026

This funding opportunity is seeking applications from organizations to establish and/or expand the use of reentry navigators. Reentry navigators will coordinate linkages to community-based treatment and recovery services upon release, including but not limited to, screening and assessment for substance use disorder (SUD); education on overdose prevention; initiation or continuation of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD); care coordination and referral; and connections to other social services. In addition, reentry navigators will connect people who use drugs (PWUD) in jails and those who are at risk of overdose to in-reach services inside jails.

Treatment Alternative Program

Due April 3, 2026

The Division of Care and Treatment Services is seeking applications for funding to implement a Treatment Alternative Program for people in the criminal justice system with substance use concerns. This program is designed to enhance community safety by providing focused treatment interventions for participants as a voluntary alternative to conviction while fostering recovery and accountability. It targets the underlying causes or unmet needs that lead to criminal justice system involvement.

A Treatment Alternative Program must follow all the standards in Wis. Admin. Code ch. DHS 66. The standards include identifying and providing resources for people in the criminal justice system eligible for services under Wis. Admin. Code § DHS 66.06 that meet the individual's needs specific to their offense and risk level while minimizing risk of re-arrest.

A majority of granted funding (at least 75%) must be used to provide treatment services as outlined in Wis. Stat. § 46.65.

FFY 2027 FoodShare Outreach Partner Solicitation

Due April 29, 2026

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) relies on its partnerships with state and local agencies, advocates, employers, and community- and faith-based organizations to help conduct outreach to low-income people who are not currently enrolled in FoodShare but may be eligible for the program. Under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach Program, administrative costs for FoodShare outreach may be eligible for reimbursement at a rate of 25% of the expenditures. Partners are encouraged to submit outreach project proposals to DHS each year for reimbursement consideration under the SNAP Outreach Program.
