We deeply apologize for not sending another update sooner as we had promised. We know that many of you have been waiting for word about Asa and have been praying for us. With how overwhelming and unpredictable life was in the NICU, and then the unexpected difficulty of transitioning to life back at home with two young children after all that, we have found our time for much beyond caring for our sons to be incredibly limited. Please forgive our silence.
What’s next? For now, Asa’s goal is to grow! He likely will need heart surgery within the first year of his life to fix the malformed valve in his heart. We are praying he will continue to astound the doctors with how well he can manage without intervention, as the bigger he is, the better the surgeons will be able to do their job! In the meantime, we’ll have regular check-ups with the cardiologists and keep an eye on any signs that he needs more help.
Thank you for praying!! We truly felt your care and knew the Lord heard. One friend likened it to Exodus 17:8-12, “But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” Israel is fighting Amalek and Moses had to keep his hands up while holding the staff of God to allow them to prevail. However, it was heavy work to do this, so his friends held up his arms. Your prayers have been holding our arms up as we watch the battle of Asa’s heart.
