Hello Hanover Dems and supporters!
Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2025 Post-Election Celebration and 2026 Pre-Election Anticipation at Wendy & Mchael Brooks' home. It was a great success! Thank you to Wendy & Michael for hosting, and thank you to all of our members, volunteers, and supporters for helping to make the 2025 election cycle a success! Here is a link to the post on Facebook about the event. It can also be found on our Instagram account.
Looking to the future ... see the Call to Caucus above. What is it and what does it mean? Well, every two years all local committees in Virginia must reorganize, reconstitute their membership and elect officers anew. This will take place at our regular meeting time, date, and place to avoid confusion, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14 at The Gathering Place at RVA Around the Table. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and the caucus will begin at 4:15 p.m. All of the details are here.
As soon as we vote in the 2026-2027 membership (as of Dec. 14, 2025), we will gavel in for a regular membership meeting where we will elect new officers. Our Nominating Committee has recruited a fabulous slate of nominees to be officers and, as protocols dictates, we will also be taking nominations from the floor. Our Executive Committee also includes numerous chair-appointed and other non-officer positions.
In case you have not heard, I have made the difficult decision not to run for re-election as chair, though I still plan to serve on the Executive Committee. It has been my absolute honor and pleasure to serve in this role and I would run for a second term if my day job wasn't also such a big responsibility! I want to thank everyone who served on the Executive Committee, every member, every volunteer, and every donor, and every supporter for everything these past two years. I am so very proud of all that the Hanover Dems have accomplished during the 2024-2025 term, for all of the progress we have made, and I'm grateful for all we had to build on from previous terms. None of this could have happened without all of you.
During the December 14 meeting, since I am NOT running for re-election as Chair, I will serve as the caucus chair. Then when we gavel into the regular meeting, I will only preside over the election of the new chair, after which the new chair will take over the meeting and run the rest of it. New officers take their positions immediately.
What do people who want to renew their membership or join anew for the 2026-2027 term need to do? If you haven't already, you can join here on our website by Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1:00 p.m., and pay your dues here. Or you can print out a paper form and mail it in (see instructions above in the Call to Caucus and on the website). You can also bring a paper form to the meeting.
If you don't join by our December reorganization meeting, no worries, you can join later. We take membership applications and dues on a rolling basis and we vote new members in at each meeting. It is strongly encouraged, but you do not need to be present to be voted in.
Thanks, again, and see you all on Dec. 14, hopefully!

Got leftover yard signs? You can keep your "Vote Democratic" yard sign and re-use it or keep it out. It is meant to be used beyond any one campaign or cycle. If you no longer wish to display it, please bring it back to the meeting and we will give it to someone else. Please bring your campaign yard signs to our Dec. 14 meeting and we will recycle them
