Important Reminders

• New and returning families are invited to Region 13's Open House today Monday, August 29 from 6pm-7pm at the clubhouse, 711 W Woodbury, Unit E, Altadena 91001. Learn what AYSO is all about and meet the leadership of Region 13!

• The cleat exchange will take place during the Open House on Monday, August 29 also at the clubhouse. Bring your old shoes and too-small soccer balls and leave with someone else's old shoes and ball.

• The Parent Orientation will be on Monday, August 29 from 7pm-8:30pm at the clubhouse, or online for those who wish to join remotely. The Zoom link will appear on Region 13's Calendar shortly.
• 
  
• Have any extra time? We could use your help to set up the open house tomorrow. Sign up HERE!

• Forms to fill out. Everyone has to print and sign the SCA and Concussion forms every year. Your coach has a link for uploading pictures (tip: ask your team manager to handle this). The Parent Pledge has a handy map of fields on the back, plus phone numbers if you need help. Print it and pack it with you.

• Game schedules are coming in a few days. Keep an eye on the homepage https://ayso13.org/!

•  The Referee Scheduling App should turn on around Labor Day.

• Practices start the Tuesday after Labor Day.

Save The Date

Announcing Sunday Soccer + Skills Clinic!

As part of registration, every player in 8U and up is eligible to participate in a bonus afternoon of soccer on Sundays on Sep 18, 25, and Oct 2. From 3:30-5:30, you can join a Skills Clinic, a Goalkeeper Academy, and small-sided pickup games for players in 8U and up. If it's a success, we'll continue throught the rest of the fall season! Learn more and sign up.

Coaches

The coach education series is back! Sep 22, Sep 25, and Oct 3, come to the clubhouse at 6:30 for a seminar with Barry Ritson, director of LA Surf and member of the coach staff for the US youth national teams. What do Barcelona and the US National Teams do that your AYSO team can, too? It's seriously awesome; you should go!

Be a Buddy 

The Very Important Player program welcomes you to help people wonderful people play soccer. A VIP Buddy runs along with a special needs player during a modified game, helping and encouraging them on the field. There are opportunities on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Email vip@ayso13.org for details.

Post Game Love 

After you child's Saturday games, remember to say, "I love to watch you play!" and please, don't talk about soccer on the way home. To learn more about being a soccer parent, watch changing the game in youth sports and the Positive Coaching Alliance's video on how to talk to your children.
