Running for office demands a lot of public visibility, meaning more time away from home and engaging in community events, as well as making oneself available for discussions with the public.

Karen Whitney has been actively doing this throughout July. From connecting with attendees at the Pride Picnic to marching in the 4th of July parades in Brownsburg and Pittsboro with fellow Democrats, and attending the Hendricks County Fair, she has been everywhere. 

Karen is backed by a dedicated team of volunteers who support her candidacy enthusiastically.

Karen Whitney recognizes the immense importance of honoring our veterans: those who have served in the past and those who continue to serve our nation.

As a tribute to the heroes of history, it's essential to acknowledge Purple Heart Day on August 7th. This day commemorates the establishment of the oldest American military decoration for military merit, the Purple Heart, which honors men and women who have received this decoration since the American Revolutionary War when six known soldiers were awarded the Badge for Military Merit.

Karen says, "As a college president, one of the most significant ceremonies I attended was when one of my students took an oath to serve in the military. It was a moment of great pride, but I also knew that these brave young men and women might be put in harm's way. Every Purple Heart recipient has my deepest appreciation and gratitude for their service and sacrifice."

 Recently, on July 24th, Karen Whitney attended a special event: the launch of the Indiana Veteran’s PAC. This group comprises men and women veterans from across our state who are supporting Democratic veteran candidates running for local and state offices.

The event was a powerful gathering, featuring notable attendees such as Terry Goodin, candidate for Lt. Governor, and Mitch Gore, a current Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives from the 89th district, along with many other Democratic candidates and supporters.

Working with her Campaign Manager, Marine veteran Theresa Brandon, Karen Whitney understands the duty, focus, and drive that veterans bring to any project.
