When First District Congressman Rob Wittman spoke at a citizen’s forum at Randolph-Macon last month, he acknowledged that continuing to provide military assistance to Ukraine was critically important to U.S. national security interests. Unfortunately, Donald Trump is telling his minions in the House of Representatives to block this aid, while signaling that, if president, he would not interfere with Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin’s attempts to invade other Eastern European countries.
Cow towing to Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson is refusing to bring the Ukraine aid bill to a vote in the House, where it is believed that there are enough votes for it to pass. Democrats in Congress are trying to bypass Johnson with a “discharge petition”. If 218 lawmakers sign the petition, the aid bill would come to the floor for a vote in spite of Johnson (and Trump). As of March 13 reporting in the Washington Post, neither Congressman Wittman or Congressman Bob Good, representing the Fifth District, have signed the discharge petition.
Tell Bob Good (202-225-4711 or 434-791-2596) and Rob Wittman (202-225-4261 or 804-730-6595) that you expect them to keep the U.S. safe by signing the discharge petition and voting for the aid to Ukraine.
