Volunteers need LiveScan. Women's national team plays in LA.

To do

LiveScan fingerprinting for coaches and refs. As of January 1, 2022 every volunteer in California who interacts with children must be fingerprinted. If you are volunteering during the Winter or Spring seasons you need to complete your LiveScan ASAP. There are two opportunities to complete the process quickly and easily. Register at http://applicantservices.com/AYSO-BILLED to complete your LiveScan Feb 12 at the AYSO Region 88 Glendale Clubhouse or Feb 19 at the AYSO Region 13 Clubhouse. LiveScan is required for each youth organization you volunteer with, e.g. school, scouts, etc. Fortunately once you complete the LiveScan process for AYSO you won't need to do it again - it's a one time thing!

AYSO Expo (a lot of in-person training) comes to San Diego on March 24-27. This is the place to network with other regions' board members and volunteers. Region 13 will reimburse registration and lodging. https://www.aysoexpo.org/s-1-10-11-socal/

Training for volunteers has a new platform, with new and interesting classes on everything from dispute resolution to social-emotional learning. Go to https://ayso13.org/register and click this button next to your name 0e854005-7557-11eb-a3d0-06b4694bee2a%2F1644343866052-1644343864631.png.

US Women's National Team

A slightly lower key tournament

Bill Owen Spring Classic is an AYSO tournament at the Rose Bowl around on the weekend of April 16-17. If you're interested in entering a team, volunteering, or sponsoring, email [email protected].

Volunteers of the month

0e854005-7557-11eb-a3d0-06b4694bee2a%2F1644105842155-PaulAllyHarrison.jpg Father-daughter team Paul and Ally Harrison have been part of Region 13 for, well, a long time now. They work behind the scenes, being in charge of painting the fields. Laying out the lines at the start of the season takes a few hours per field. After that, it takes about 3 weeks to repaint all the fields that Region 13 uses. As soon as they finish, they do it all again!

Dear <<First Name>>,

Welcome to 2022, and the next step in your AYSO adventure!

AYSO works because you make it happen, and this month kicks off preparation for the Fall 2022 soccer season. If you're ready to be the change you want to see, this is your chance to join the Region 13 Board. Some of the more accessible roles include coordinating the coach or referee classes, the Spring Cup, or the EXTRA program. You can join the referee staff or administer your child's division. You can also help us facilitate communities around the VIP program or the youth referees. If your superpower is shopping, well, the uniforms, trophies, and volunteer gifts aren't going to buy themselves.

If you have ideas for improving the fields, please let me know. Fields will be focus for improvement this year.

See you on the field!

Taj Chiu
Regional Commissioner (Volunteer) and Soccer Mom
