Advance Colorado Statement on Colorado State Budget

It’s never enough.
PARKER – The Colorado General Assembly has adopted this year’s $38.5 billion budget as it now heads to Governor Jared Polis’ desk.

Advance Colorado’s President, Michael Fields, issued the following statement:

“Our state’s budget is growing faster than wages–outpacing inflation–yet lawmakers still push to strip the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, impose fees, and increase Coloradans’ cost of living,” said Fields. “Our budget has increased over 68% in the last decade, yet it is never enough for some of those in power.”
The operating budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year tops out at $38.5 billion, which is:

  • A projected 8.9% increase in the general fund from last year.
  • A projected 24.59% increase from FY18-19’s total operating budget, which was $30.9B.
  • A projected 68.86% increase from FY13-14’s total operating budget, which was $22.8B.
