AHK Sustainable Tourism and Destination Management course for Ecuadorian destinations
|
A vote of gratitude to AHK Ecuador - Cámara Ecuatoriano Alemana and Business Scout for Development (BSFD) for offering a free-of-charge destination management training course in Spanish, Fundamentos del Turismo Sostenible y la Gestión de Destinos, to the municipalities and administrative professionals of more than 20 Ecuadorian destinations. The course, developed by the Green Destinations Foundation Training Program, aimed at strengthening destination managers’ capacities to implement sustainable tourism development policies and prepare for sustainable destination certification. Goeree-Overflakkee The Netherlands
This island has been serving as a living lab for innovations in sustainability by achieving energy-neutrality in 2020; now aiming to share its gathered knowledge with the world. The Hydrogen Pact initiative commits 28 major international stakeholders to make Goeree-Overflakkee the field lab for the use of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source. The island destination, with its outstanding reputation in sustainability, serves as an important sustainable holiday destination in the Netherlands.

Katwijk The Netherlands
The municipality of Katwijk has a sustainable ambition - to take into account the impact of all its activities on the living environment. It places the destination in line with the principles and objectives of the Dutch Climate Agreement (June 2019).
Sustainability impacts almost all major policy concerns of the municipality. Its prime focus vests on a sustainable living environment and a sustainable mobility system, with an ambition to become CO2 neutral by 2050.

Portugal
Alto Minho, with 36km of Atlantic coastline, together with the 290km of great rivers, fulfills the ideal conditions for practicing nautical and nature tourism activities. The destination has more classified national monuments than any other sub-region of Northern Portugal. Alto Minho also focuses on promoting its local culture and gastronomy; the rich wine and food are based on the green wines of excellence (like Alvarinho and Loureiro) and dishes made from the territory's main resources.

Kamaishi is one of 11 cities and regions in Japan to be designated as a “FutureCity” by the Japanese Government, with its consistent efforts in tackling issues like global warming, energy problems and the rapidly aging society.
According to the 2018 revision of Kamaishi's Comprehensive Strategy, all formulated policies are now being performed in relation to the SDGs, such as the promotion of Kamaishi's carbon offsetting efforts based on its natural resource usage.
