GTGOP NEWSLETTER March 2024 Issue
|
|
Welcome from the Editor Hello and welcome to the March GTGOP Newsletter. It looks like Spring may be here for good. The crocuses are blooming, the daffodils are pushing, and the robins have arrived. Out with the doldrums of winter and in with new life. The same can be said for the stale Democrat administration. Make way for the new Republican administration. The RNC 2024 nomination is all but official 2024 and now it's time to rally. This month's Newsletter focuses on the work we need to do to find quality Republican candidates for the seats up for election this November. The primaries are in August (which will be here before you know it). There are many offices expiring in 2025 and we need to fill those seats with Republicans. I won't call for a Red Wave- what we need to do is "Paint this town RED"! Included in this issue you will find local seats up for grabs this election season. For those of you currently in office or running for office, would you like to be featured in the GTGOP Newsletter? Please email Vice Chair, Drew Craven. Interested in running for office? The GTGOP has put together a "Getting Started" program to assist in learning the basics. Send an email to Chair@gtgop.org for more info. Also in this month's issue we have a GTGOP member who shares her reasons for getting involved. Read about how affecting change begins at the local level. Be sure to participate in this month's YOU VOTE question. It was announced last month that Governor Whitmer wants your help in housing illegal migrants. She is encouraging Michiganders to help facilitate the mass influx of illegal invaders. Would you agree to house illegal migrants in your home? We want to hear from you! I welcome ideas, articles and opinions you may have on topics of interest and importance. Maybe it's a favorite quote or Bible verse. Perhaps there's an article that spoke to you and you like to share it with others. Reply to this email with your submissions and ideas. Notice the bold and underline throughout the Newsletter? Click on the text to be redirected to sites providing more information found in articles or to find out more about the referenced organizations and subjects. Happy Easter and God's Blessings-Jennifer Dohm Editor in Chief

Make your voice heard!
We want your feedback! It was announced last month, Governor Whitmer wants your help in making illegal migrants 'feel' welcome in Michigan. How does she want your assistance? By providing them living space in your personal residence, of course. What could go wrong? First the obvious, the vast majority of those entering our country have not undergone a criminal background check nor been screened for communicable diseases. Most do not speak English nor have a means to provide food and shelter for themselves and their families. Now the not so obvious. In other states encouraging this type of assistance to illegals, residents are finding out how difficult it can be to rid themselves of these eventual unwanted, house 'guests'.
ALERT: They have more rights than you do as the homeowner and can have YOU evicted from your own home as a squatter. If you call the police, they will tell you it’s a matter for the courts. Now Gretchen Whitmer is encouraging Michiganders to help facilitate the mass influx of illegal invaders by welcoming them into your home.
Should Michigan residents house illegal aliens in their homes?

The Action Center is Open! |
A GATHERING PLACE!Have you stopped by the Action Center yet? Stop by and see what we have done with all this space. Did you know we offer space to a local community food bank? We are honored to have the opportunity to host the Prayerfyre Food Pantry, run by a Grand Traverse County Precinct Delegate. The GTGOP is also excited to offer Tech Training and Educational Courses for community members. Check the calendar often to stay up to date with all our events. While we have come a long way, there is plenty to do to get our Action Center fully equipped and staffed to serve the community. We have made a huge dent in what we need but there are still many items on our wish list. Email chair@gtgop.org to find out what is still needed. As in previous years, we will once again be offering Buy-A-Day. Days available for sponsorship are many, from now until November 2024. For just $50 you can choose the day you'd like to sponsor at the Action Center. We will add your name on the storefront and offer recognition in our monthly Newsletter. It's a great way to show your support for the Republican Party and help defray the operating costs. This helps us to stay focused on getting Republicans in office.

The State of our Party and Where we go from Here: (written by Katie Kniss, Chair)
|
It is no secret there is division in the Republican Party, from the national stage on down to the family dinner table. Republicans are seeing their country flushed down the tubes with liberal left policies. Our Southern Border is under invasion, colleges and universities are incubators for woke activism, grade schools are open markets for sexual predators, and it is an all-out war against our Constitution. To top it off, we Republicans are losing this war as Michigan is currently dominated by the Democrat party. We do have a right to be angry! The fight over MIGOP Chair has even managed to polarize the grassroots movement. It seems there's not much we can all agree on these days, save for one thing. And that’s T R U M P !President Trump has been sweeping the Nation with crushing defeats against all his opponents. So much so that with the conclusion of Super Tuesday voting, he is the only candidate left. It's Trump country baby! Grand Traverse County Precinct Delegates voted 92% in his favor. Both sides of the MIGOP Chair dispute strongly support Trump. The whole of Michigan voted nearly 2 to 1 in favor of Trump over runner up, Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley fans, I'm sorry but you're just gonna have to listen to us MAGA "basket of deplorables" for a while longer. Get on the Trump Train because it's the ONE thing that unites us! Putting Trump back in Washington this November will begin the restoration of our country and we eagerly anticipate the return of his Pro-American policies. We must come together to take back the Presidency or our country is toast! How is this possible when the State party is in shambles and even the Patriots are at odds? Our trust in leadership has been eroded, the District Convention was a disaster and Northern Michigan Delegates were ignored! We must remember our mission. We have a job to do and cannot allow the noise across the State to distract us from our purpose. So here in Grand Traverse County we will focus on getting Conservative Republicans elected by increasing our outreach and education efforts. We will unite under Trump as we forge ahead. Editor's Note: As many of you have expressed interest in what happened at the State Convention, here is one account. Precinct Delegate, Dan Hartman writes his accounts of events while served as General Counsel of the Michigan Republican Party since May 2023. Click here to read the whole article.

We ask our members "What matters to you and what inspires you to get engaged?". This month we heard back from Sue Welton. Her passion is for making an impact as a Precinct Delegate. I became a precinct delegate to learn more about what the hell is going on in our Republican Party. The 2020 lockdowns, tyrannical government overriding our constitutional rights and freedoms, and the denial by our MI Republican Representative that there were NO systematic problems with the 2020 election. I wanted to learn more, I wanted to see what was under the “hood” and how I could make an impact. At first, I didn’t really know much about what a precinct delegate was, but knew they had a more direct line of information in what is going on with the MI Republican Party. After being elected, it was radio silence: no communication, no information, nothing from the GTGOP leadership. As a newbie, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do or how to make connections. I received an invite to a meeting event from We the County, “Going Local” for an afternoon. There I recognized some people and befriended another East Bay Delegate, Gerard Engler, and with Marilyn Dear’s guidance we scheduled our first East Bay Delegate meeting. It was a meet and greet and an opportunity to learn from our fellow delegates how to begin creating a community. It’s still a process in development, but I am much more politically aware and see the benefits of bringing our delegates together to build relationships with each other and with voters in our townships. Being a delegate is so much more than just showing up to County or State Convention to vote. Too many people just expect their elected officials to represent their wishes and vote for him or her because they have an R or a D next to their name. A precinct delegate is the initial representative contact at the most local level. I see now that working collectively, we can make an impact by disseminating information, vetting, and supporting quality candidates that will uphold our constitutional values and freedoms for our voters. I’ve found that people (delegates and voters) appreciate communication and transparency of information. Voters want to know what we know as we are the liaisons between our township community and the county party. We have a busy and IMPORTANT election year to make an impact on Grand Traverse County. We all need to work for majority Republican representation by flipping our 103rd District back to Red. Let’s work together to make good things happen in our townships, county, and state this election year for our families, children, and grandchildren. We first need to fill ALL of our precinct delegate seats; the deadline is May 7th. It’s time to recruit good quality patriots that want to make an impact as a precinct delegate. Contact me to share ideas, meeting topics, or to share information with others. tcsreamer@gmail.com

Recently DC Judges found in favor of Big Tech companies relying of the supply of cobalt to make "clean and green" products. Read More...

Turns out, there’s quite a bit of gold on—or, really, in—our planet: 99 percent of the precious metal can be found in the Earth’s core, Discover Magazine reports. How much is there? Enough to coat the entire surface of the Earth in 1.5 feet of gold.

March 16, 1802: The United States Military Academy—the first military school in the United States—is founded by Congress to educate and train young men in the theory and practice of military science. Located at West Point, New York, the U.S. Military Academy is often simply known as West Point. Located on the high west bank of New York’s Hudson River, West Point was the site of a Revolutionary-era fort built to protect the Hudson River Valley from British attack. In 1780, Patriot General Benedict Arnold, the commander of the fort, agreed to surrender West Point to the British in exchange for 6,000 pounds. However, the plot was uncovered before it fell into British hands, and Arnold fled to the British for protection.
