How Will You Celebrate Pollinator Week? |
|
Pollinator Week is a celebration of the vital role that pollinators play in our ecosystems, economies and agriculture. These essential creatures, including bees, butterflies, moths, bats,
beetles, and hummingbirds, are the unsung heroes behind the food we
enjoy and the beauty that surrounds us.
Oklahoma is loaded with events throughout the state. From plant sales to giant bug exhibits, there's something for everyone! See below for what to do and where to go to get your Pollinator Week celebrations on.

Honey, Who Shrunk the Kids? |
Here's a larger than life way to celebrate Pollinator Week! Load up the littles for a fun day exploring the Tulsa Zoo's
special exhibit filled with 19 giant animatronic BUGS! Ignite your
imagination as you experience the world from their perspective. Witness
the life cycle of monarch butterflies, walk through a giant beehive,
hear hissing cockroaches, watch the dance of a peacock jumping spider
and smell the pungent odor of a stink bug! As you walk through learn how
each species affects the ecosystems around them, as well as how you can
help BUGS.
Open daily now through September 2,
8 am – 4:30 pm.

Immerse your inner or actual child into Juniper’s Butterfly Garden and celebrate Pollinator Week with a free excursion to the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden! Now through June 30, library card holders are encouraged to check out and read Juniper’s Butterfly Garden
from more than 200 participating Oklahoma public or tribal library
locations. Upon returning the book, you will receive a voucher
redeemable for free general admission to the OKC Zoo for up to four
people (child, adult or senior).

Come celebrate National Pollinator Week by enjoying some very local honey! Those of you familiar with the CommonWealth Urban Farms community in OKC have long enjoyed the kaleidoscope of pollinator gardens throughout the neighborhood. On June 22, you will have the opportunity to sample and purchase the unusually beautiful honey that came from these very gardens.

Thank you to everyone for coming out and partying
for the pollinators with us at our Launch Party fundraiser on June 9th. This was our first-ever fundraiser and we surpassed
our goal of $10k by raising $10,249 for monarch conservation! These
funds will go towards the development of version 2.0 of our Statewide
Monarch Conservation Action Plan. From bottom of our wings, we THANK
YOU, all of our partners, featured artist Rick Sinnett, and our gracious host Anthem Brewing!
Didn't make it to our Launch Party but still want to support our passionate efforts to save the monarchs?
